Rites of Passage is a multi-media project that

RECLAIMS WOMEN'S RITES OF PASSAGE

through ritual, art, performance + writing.

WE ARE:

*an evolving live collaborative performance project

*an online platform

*and eventually, a large-format book of essays + photographs

OUR COLLECTIVE FUTURE DEPENDS
ON THE STORY WE TELL

Shaping this new story involves a Re-Vision of the Feminine
and a Declaration of it.

As women, we are on the forefront of change as storytellers and weavers
of Life, Death + new Life - able to wield immense power
when we join together with wisdom + compassion.

The live performance or living museum

takes place inside a house

of many rooms.

Each room represents a stage or theme

of initiation in women's lives

from birth to death.

Together, we are housing

the Collective Female Soul.

I Never truly acknowledged the fact that I was female until about the 2nd room, and realized maybe its not so bad as I thought."

-Anonymous audience member

A second live performance

- 20/20 VISION -

is now planned for the

SUMMER OF 2020

focusing on the lives of

women of color.

The first live performance

of Rites of Passage

took place in 2013

in Pittsfield, MA

in a historic Women's Club.

Collaboratively created by women from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities,

Rites of Passage is a living, breathing invocation

for the healing of our lineages, the weaving of our many colors

and a fertile future for the generations to come.

Creativity is not a solitary movement. That is its power. Whatever is touched by it, whoever hears it, sees it, senses it, knows it, is fed. A single creative act has the potential to feed a continent. One creative act can cause a torrent to break through stone."
